This is not the first time the industry has been rocked by a sudden rise in female interest.

A number of prominent women have been hired in the past year to work on the film and TV industry, including “Orange is the New Black” star Kimmy Schmidt and “Blackish” star Jada Pinkett Smith.

But it’s the first year the industry is seeing an influx of female talent, said Fuchs.

“I think there is definitely an awareness, for sure, that we need to continue to hire women,” he said.
